What yy said about $$ and prof are true... you need $$ for everything. Repairs, consumables, gems, enchants etc etc
I would suggest 2 gathering prof for starters and maybe switch at lv 60 or even 70 for powerlvling. In that way you would have enough $$ for your level 60 epic mount. Gears crafted from secondary prof are good but before lv60 its not worth crafting them as you would change your gear so frequently that it becomes useless after a few levels.
Talking about money... i haven been farming $$... haha i need $$!!!
